From July 1, residents of Mariupol who do not take a Russian passport will be declared “foreigners”

The adviser to the chairman, Petro Andryushchenko, reported that the Russian authorities renewed the warning that all Mariupol residents who do not have Moscow passports will become “foreigners” from July 1.

This is due to the fact that the so-called “simplified procedure for acquiring Russian citizenship” expires in Russia on July 1, 2024. Thus, all local residents who have not yet received a Russian passport become “foreign citizens” automatically. This entails the obligation to register for migration within 7 days and obtain a migration card.

Andryushchenko noted that the norm does not specify what will happen if “foreigners” do not perform the above-mentioned actions, but they are likely to face deportation.

It is important to remember that the period of temporary stay of a foreigner in the Russian Federation cannot exceed 90 days. At the same time, all this time, Ukrainians must always have with them a certificate of temporary asylum on the territory of the Russian Federation or a temporary residence permit or residence permit in the Russian Federation, a temporary identity card without citizenship. All employees must have a work permit.
