From 20:20 on December 31, Russian troops attacked Zaporizhzhia and the region. First, the Russians attacked the region with guided air bombs, and then with “shaheeds”.
This was reported by Ivan Fedorov, head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration.
Thanks to the Ukrainian defenders, not a single guided air bomb launched on Zaporizhzhia reached its target. Unfortunately, Russian air strikes were carried out on Stepnohirsk and Hulyaipolye.
“Around 23:57, a fire broke out in two civilian houses that the Russians attacked with guided air bombs. “The State Emergency Service of Ukraine rescued an 83-year-old woman from a fire that was in her house, next to which a guided aerial bomb had hit,” the head of the Zaporizhzhia regional military administration reported.
After 10:00 p.m., Russian troops began attacking the regional center with “shaheeds.” In total, the Russians launched 10 drones over Zaporizhzhia. Mobile fire groups shot down five enemy “shaheeds,” and several more flew past the city.
According to the State Emergency Service of Zaporizhzhia region, two fires broke out in Hulyaipolе within 6 minutes: at 11:57 p.m. and at 12:03 a.m., two residential buildings caught fire.
“Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and during one of the fires they rescued an 83-year-old woman by taking her to fresh air. The rescued woman did not need medical assistance,” the State Emergency Service noted.
