The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that only in 2024 was it possible to officially confirm the executions of 109 Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russians: “Ukraine manages to officially record violations of the rights of Ukrainian prisoners of war, executions, cynical executions at close range, unfortunately. Only in 2024 was it officially confirmed that the Russians shot 109 Ukrainian prisoners of war. If in previous years it was possible to record a total of 177, then you understand that compared to 2024, much less was done,” Lubinets said.

At the same time, he noted that information was received from intelligence and law enforcement agencies that the Russians often violate the rights of prisoners of war.

“Unfortunately, I could not go out and publicly show these examples of cynical violations of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, when we managed to record it – we do it,” said the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

At the same time, he emphasized that there is no effective reaction from the international community.
