In Kherson, on July 21, a Russian shell hit a theater building

The Russian military again shelled a civilian facility in Kherson – this time the theater was damaged. There were no injuries, but the building was damaged.

This was reported by the general director and artistic director of the theater, Oleksandr Knyga.

In Kherson, on July 21, Russian military shelled the building of the Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater named after Mykola Kulish.

The shell hit the institution at around 2:10 p.m. As a result of the impact, the facade of the theater, one of the columns, the entrance door and three windows in the theater-cafe were damaged. There were no civilian casualties.

Our long-suffering theater. Back in 1943, the fascists blew up the historic theater building, now modern racists are trying to destroy it again, — wrote Knyga.

He added that this shelling is another evidence of how the Russian army “implements its so-called traditional values”.

In March 2024, the Kherson Regional Theater named after Mykola Kulish also suffered damage due to a blast wave as a result of shelling. The building was also damaged during attacks in February 2024 and November 2023.

Mykolaiv and Kherson regions have become some of the most vulnerable in the country – the cultural infrastructure there has been significantly damaged due to shelling. In total, more than two thousand cultural objects have been damaged in Ukraine. In Mykolaiv region, 44.2% of such objects were damaged, in Kherson – 43%, in Odessa – 10%.
