In Kherson, the station came under Russian fire: a policeman was killed, employees of Ukrzaliznytsia were injured

In the evening of December 26, the Russian army set fire to the railway station in Kherson.

The Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia spoke about the consequences of the attack on the facility.

After the shelling began, police officers on duty at the station evacuated approximately 140 civilians.

One of the law enforcement officers – a police lieutenant from Kirovohrad region – died during the evacuation.

Klymenko reported that two more policemen were injured and were taken to the hospital. In addition, at least two civilians were injured in the attack. At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia reported several injured employees of the company. It is also known that as a result of shelling, the station building itself and the rolling stock of Ukrzaliznytsia were damaged.

“The plan is as follows: we are waiting for the stabilization of the situation around the station, we are transferring people to buses from the station square to Mykolaiv (thanks to the Kherson military administration for the operational assistance), there we are already preparing reserve cars – and we will take more than 100 passengers to safety with them,” added Ukrzaliznytsia.
