On the night of June 2, Russia attacked Kyiv – missiles and debris hit at least six districts of the capital. The number of victims is currently unknown, but a week earlier, due to a large attack on Kyiv on May 14, 24 people died. On the night of June 2, Chairman Vitaliy Klitschko confirmed that residential buildings were hit in several districts at once and reported the first victim. According to preliminary data, there may be people under the rubble of the destroyed high-rise building in Podil. As of now, the danger continues.
At about two o’clock in the morning on June 2, explosions were heard over the capital. Numerous hits by ballistic missiles of the Iskander and Zircon types were recorded. In 13 minutes, Russia launched about 25 missiles at Kyiv, Lubny, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia.
The most difficult situation was in the Podilskyi district: part of a multi-storey building was destroyed, there were people under the rubble, reported the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Timur Tkachenko. In addition, non-residential buildings and cars are burning in the district, and in another place, rocket fragments fell on the roof of a house, causing a fire and breaking windows.
Chairman Vitaliy Klitschko announced that a missile hit a 24-storey building – a fire broke out there. Another missile hit a 15-storey residential building in the Solomyanskyi district. In Shevchenkivskyi district, the fire occurred at the level of 4-5 floors: the facade of the building was damaged, the debris fell on a non-residential building.
In Obolonskyi district, the debris of a drone fell next to a kindergarten, and in another place a fire broke out in an unfinished building. In Svyatoshynskyi and Holosiivskyi districts, the fire engulfed non-residential buildings and a shopping area. Head of the Kyiv City Military Administration Tkachenko also reported a fire at a gas station in Darnytskyi district. Power outages were recorded in Podilskyi, Obolonskyi and Svyatoshynskyi districts – this was confirmed by Klitschko.
