In the evening of August 17, the Russians launched an airstrike on Mirnograd, Donetsk region. This was announced by the head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Vadym Filashkin.
This is also reported by the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office: “According to the investigation, on August 17, 2024, the Russian Air Force dropped an aerial bomb on the city of Myrnograd. Previously, the Russians attacked the settlement with the FAB-500. The weapon hit a multi-story building. As a result a 78-year-old citizen died in the middle of the street. Four civilians, 40 and 56 years old, as well as two 37-year-old and 69-year-old men were injured.
In the city, the blast wave damaged high-rise buildings, a cinema, shops and a pharmacy.
On August 16, local authorities reported that Russian troops were six kilometers from Mirnograd. About 20,000 people with children remain in the city.
