In Odessa, after the drone strike, a high-rise building lost its structural stability: updated data on the consequences of the destruction

In a 16-story building that suffered from a night attack in the Kyivsky district of Odessa, serious structural damage to the upper floors was found. Due to the threat of collapse, emergency services specialists are evacuating residents and taking care of organizing temporary accommodation.

According to preliminary results of the examination of the 16-story building damaged as a result of the night attack, serious structural damage to the upper floors was found, which negatively affects the overall stability of the building.

Currently, the residents of the building are being evacuated to ensure conditions for the implementation of work to stabilize the structure. An operational headquarters is operating next to the building, where lists for temporary accommodation of evacuees are being prepared.

Work to remove dangerous building elements continues continuously. A high-rise crane will be used to carry out work on the upper floors, and from tomorrow the installation of temporary supports for the walls will begin, which will help increase the stability of the building, the report says.

The area around the facility is fenced off. The Odessa City Council called on residents of the surrounding area to refrain from staying near the damaged building for safety reasons.

In addition, as of 11:00 in the Kyiv district of the city, destruction was recorded in 56 apartments, some of which were almost completely destroyed on the upper floors. About 700 windows were damaged by the explosions. The commissions continue to inspect the buildings for significant structural damage.
