In Russia, a prisoner of war from “Azov” was sentenced to 18 years in a colony

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don (RF) sentenced 45-year-old Ukrainian prisoner of war Artem Sheik to 18 years in prison on charges of “participation in a terrorist group and preparation for terrorism”.

The charges against Sheik were brought because of his service in the “Azov” regiment, which is recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia.

According to the Russian investigation, Sheiko joined Azov in early 2015, where he served as a battery operator in an armored vehicle repair company and fought against the “DPR” terrorists until mid-May 2022. Then the Ukrainian was captured by Russian forces along with other Azov fighters who were hiding at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol.

Sheiko will be held in a maximum-security prison, the court added.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Russian captivity, 250 Azov servicemen have been sentenced on various charges.
