In Sumy region, a man died and two women were injured in Russian shelling

In Sumy region, one civilian was killed and two women were injured as a result of Russian attacks on August 15.

According to the regional military administration, a 73-year-old man died in the Velykypysarivska community when an FPV drone hit a civilian car. In the Seredyno-Budska community, a 59-year-old woman was injured as a result of an attack by guided aerial bombs. In the Sumy community, a 48-year-old woman was injured in a drone explosion near her place of residence – she was diagnosed with acute stress reaction, medical care was provided on an outpatient basis.

During the day from the morning of August 15 to the morning of August 16, 2025, Russian armed formations carried out almost 120 attacks on 44 settlements in 14 territorial communities of the region. The most intense attacks were recorded in the Sumy and Shostka districts.

Russian troops actively used various types of weapons. In particular, more than 40 strikes were carried out with guided aerial bombs, up to 20 explosive munitions were dropped from drones, FPV drones and other types of UAVs were used.

As a result of the shelling, civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged and destroyed. In the Seredino-Bud community, at least five private houses, non-residential premises, two tractors and two motorcycles, as well as other civilian facilities, were damaged.

In the Velykypysariv community, a private car and an ambulance were completely destroyed. In the Yunakiv community, two private households were destroyed, and in the Shalygin community, a private house was damaged.

The Sumy community suffered serious damage, where 10 trading stalls were destroyed in the rows of the Central Market of the regional center. About ten more stalls were damaged. An educational institution and non-residential buildings were also damaged. An outbuilding was damaged in the Bilopolska community.

Six people were evacuated from the border areas within 24 hours.
