In the village of Kyyanytsia, Yunakivska community, Sumy Region, Russian shelling caused a large-scale fire in the historic estate of the Kharytonenko sugar millers. The unique architectural monument was practically turned into ruins.
The palace was built by Ivan Kharytonenko in 1890, and later belonged to his niece Maria Lishchynska. During Soviet times, the authentic layout of the building was destroyed due to the construction of a tourist camp there. In recent decades, the estate has been closed and needed restoration, which it did not wait until the start of the full-scale invasion.
The fire has engulfed a significant part of the building. Russian troops continue to purposefully destroy not only residential buildings, but also objects of the region’s cultural and historical heritage.
