Yesterday evening, the enemy fired several more shells at two communities. Fortunately, there were no casualties or damage. The rest of the night passed peacefully.

On Sunday, the occupiers struck 114 attacks on 5 communities, as a result of which an architectural monument was damaged: the wooden church of St. Barbara, in addition to this monument, the cultural building, as well as the starostat building, reports the head of the Sumy regional military administration, Dmytro Zhivytskyi.

“The enemy fired 15 projectiles from rocket salvo systems at the Esmansk community. There were also 15 more attacks from barrel artillery,” Zhivytskyi wrote.

The enemy shelled the Hlukhivsk community with anti-aircraft missiles, 20 hits were recorded.

The occupiers shelled the Shalygin community with 120 mm mortars, 11 hits were recorded. Also, the enemy made 10 attacks from barrel artillery.

In the Krasnopil community, 6 mines exploded on the border.

The enemy twice shelled the Bilopol community with 120 mm mortars, 27 hits were recorded.

During the first day of 2023, the Russian occupation forces carried out 114 strikes on the territory of five border communities of the Sumy region – Esmanska, Glukhivska, Shalyginska, Krasnopilska and Bilopolska (as of 9:30 p.m.).

This was announced by the head of the regional military administration, Dmytro Zhivytskyi.

According to him, the enemy shelled Esmansk community with anti-aircraft guns (fired 15 shells) and barrel artillery (15 hits).

“Glukhivskа community: the enemy opened fire with anti-aircraft guns, 20 hits,” wrote Zhivytskyi. “The Russian army shelled the Shalyginsk community with 120 mm mortars – 11 hits. There were also 10 hits from barrel artillery.”

In addition, six Russian mines exploded on the border in the Krasnopil community, continued the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

Also, the occupiers fired 120 mm mortars twice on the territory of the Bilopol community – 27 hits, added Zhivytskyi.

“The Russians have nothing sacred. This is not news, of course, but today the enemy proved it once again with their actions. As a result of the shelling, an architectural monument – the wooden church of St. Barbara was damaged. A monument, a cultural center, and the building of the Starostat were also damaged.” – summed up the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration.

After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, part of the Sumy region was occupied.

At the beginning of April, the northern regions of Ukraine were freed from the invaders, but the Russians regularly bombard the Sumy region from the territory of the Russian Federation.

On December 30, the occupiers shelled five communities of the Sumy region 139 times, damaging houses and infrastructure facilities.
