Liquidation of a large-scale forest fire on an area of about 550 hectares continues for the fourth day in the Lyman Forestry of the Donetsk region, the press center of the State Emergency Service reported on September 18.
Due to strong winds and prolonged drought, the fire quickly spread over a large area. At the same time, there is no threat of the fire spreading to populated areas, the State Emergency Service says.
111 rescuers and 26 units of equipment from the emergency services of Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kirovohrad and Vinnytsia regions were involved in extinguishing the fire.
The fire started on September 15 after the Russian occupiers shelled the city of Lyman, located in Donetsk region, and the forest caught fire. Due to a strong gusty wind, the fire spread deep into the forest. On September 16, the area of the fire was 240 hectares.
