In the Sumy Region, two people were killed and six others were injured during the day due to Russian shelling

In Sumy Region on August 8, as a result of Russian shelling, two people were killed and six more were wounded, the regional military administration reported as of 9:00 p.m.

Earlier today, the regional military administration reported on the deaths of two brothers in the Yunakiv community, the youngest of whom was six years old.

As for the injured, according to the report, one person was injured in the Sumy community, a resident of the Yunakiv community suffered multiple injuries, and four residents of the Khotyn community suffered explosive injuries.

According to Volodymyr Artyukh, the situation in Sumy Region – primarily on the border – has worsened.

Earlier, the head of the regional military administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, said that in the Sumy region, mandatory evacuation is being carried out from the settlements of five communities of the Sumy district. It is about the evacuation of approximately 6,000 people, including 425 children.

Two brothers were killed in Sumy Region as a result of an airstrike by the Russian Federation

On August 8, the Russians carried out an airstrike on the civilian infrastructure of the Yunakiv community of the Sumy district, as a result of which two people were killed. This was reported by the Prosecutor’s Office of Sumy Region.

It is noted that the deceased were brothers, one of them was only 6 years old.

“According to the investigation, on August 8, 2024 at around 11:00 a.m., using methods of warfare prohibited by international law, the enemy carried out an airstrike on the civilian infrastructure of the Yunakiv community of the Sumy district. As a result of the Russian attack, the 6-year-old and 23-year-old brothers were killed,” – the message says.

Proceedings were opened for violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The Yunakiv community borders the Kursk region of the Russian Federation and suffers from enemy shelling.
