Mortality of prisoners under criminal articles increased in places of deprivation of liberty in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. This is reported by the Eastern Human Rights Group.
“In prisons under the control of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, the number of deaths of prisoners serving sentences under criminal articles (not prisoners of war and political prisoners) has increased,” the report said.
It is noted that the cause of death recently is drug overdose, as well as death at work.
Human rights defenders add that in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, Russia uses the labor of prisoners at certain enterprises of the coal and metallurgical complex due to a lack of labor.
