In Ukraine during the war, Russian troops damaged or destroyed 1,833 medical facilities

During the full-scale war unleashed by Russia, many objects of the Ukrainian medical infrastructure were damaged or completely destroyed by the enemy. These are hospitals, dispensaries, maternity hospitals, polyclinics, etc., the Ministry of Health of Ukraine reports.

In particular, in more than two years, 1,619 objects of medical institutions were damaged and another 214 were destroyed completely beyond the possibility of restoration due to Russian bombing and systematic attacks. Medical facilities in Kharkiv Oblast, Donetsk Oblast, Mykolaiv Oblast, Kyiv Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Kherson Oblast and Zaporizhzhia were the most affected. Currently, it is impossible to obtain data on the degree of destruction of hospitals in the temporarily occupied territories.

The Russians also damaged 175 emergency medical vehicles, destroyed 261 and captured another 125.

In the conditions of the ongoing war, work on the restoration of Ukrainian hospitals continues in order to ensure that every Ukrainian has access to the necessary and high-quality medical care. the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, together with partners, is working on the reconstruction and reconstruction of medical facilities.

So far, 524 medical facilities have been fully restored and another 358 have been partially restored. We are talking about the reconstruction of hospitals in the de-occupied territories, as well as those that have suffered minor damage: broken windows, destruction of the roof, damage to the facade, etc. Most of the facilities were restored in the Mykolaiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. Restoration work will continue.
