
A Russian court has sentenced Yulia Buyevets, a resident of Volnovakha, Donetsk region, to 12 years in prison for allegedly passing on data about Russian military personnel to Ukrainian intelligence. The girl was detained in January 2026.
The sentence was announced by the press service of the Russian FSB department in the temporarily occupied Donetsk region.
According to the Russian investigation, Buyevets contacted representatives of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine via Telegram and provided them with information about the locations of Russian military units and the location of administrative buildings in the Volnovakha district.
Russian security forces also accused her of passing on data about local residents and representatives of youth organizations. The FSB claims that this information could be used to further involve them in “illegal activities.” Yulia Buyevets was detained on January 12, 2026. She was in custody during the investigation. The occupation “Supreme Court of the DPR” found the girl guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of Russia on state treason and sentenced her to 12 years in a general regime colony. The court also imposed one year of restriction of liberty after serving the main sentence.
According to the “If There Had Been No War” project, Buyevets is a citizen of Ukraine who was born on July 27, 2007. At the time of her detention, she was 18 years old. A similar case in occupied Mariupol: the occupation “Supreme Court of the DPR” sentenced 20-year-old Viktoriya Maksymenko to 13 years in prison for allegedly transferring data about Russian military personnel to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Sentence for allegedly transferring data on Russian military in Rubizhne: the occupation “LPR court” sentenced Vladimir Lukashenko to 18 years in prison on charges of espionage.
Another case in the occupied Luhansk region: Kostyantyn Myroshnychenko was sentenced to 13 years in prison for allegedly collecting information on Russian military in the Svatyvka district.
