Infrastructure in the temporarily occupied territories is systematically degrading

There is no improvement in the infrastructure in the temporarily occupied territories – its condition is only worsening.

Petro Andryushchenko, head of the public organization “Center for the Study of Occupation”, spoke about the situation in the temporarily occupied territories.

“The point is that Russia was able to occupy the territories, even temporarily, but it was not able to ensure at least relatively normal life in these territories. Of course, the Russians are not able to organize this. In addition, there is a big problem with the technical support of all processes related to infrastructure and the communal sphere. We have seen this since the period of the occupation of Crimea, where they supposedly invested significant funds. In the same Sevastopol, the population almost doubled, but the infrastructure definitely did not become better from this,” says Petro Andryushchenko.

The head of the public organization “Center for the Study of Occupation” also analyzed the reasons for this: “That is, firstly, they really are not able to organize such processes at the management level. Secondly, the situation is complicated by the fact that the Russians are technologically limited – they themselves do not produce a significant part of the necessary equipment for repairs and maintenance. Therefore, the sanctions policy really comes back to them like a boomerang. And the advancement of the Russians and the expansion of the territories that they have been trying to control since 2022 have actually led to a collapse.”
