The Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office has launched a pre-trial investigation into the fact of a missile attack on Odessa, which killed two people and injured six, including foreign sailors, in the Odessa port. The explosion in Odessa is classified as a war crime.
According to the Odesa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, on July 3 at about 12:50, the Russian armed forces launched a missile strike on the port infrastructure “Iskander-M”. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba reported that the missile attack on Odessa hit the berth area during the unloading of metal in the port of Odessa.
“Among the injured are members of the crew of a foreign civilian vessel that was in the port,” the report says.
According to preliminary data, the explosion in Odessa claimed the lives of a docker-mechanic and a truck driver, and among the six wounded from the Iskander were Syrian citizens – members of the crew of a civilian vessel under the flag of Sao Tome and Principe. The missile attack on Odessa damaged not only the infrastructure of the Odessa port, but also the foreign vessel itself.
Under the procedural leadership of the Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – war crimes that caused the death of people. The investigation into the consequences of the missile attack on Odessa is being carried out by investigators of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odessa region.
