Kharkiv continues to clean up after Russian night attack: regional council member talks about the situation in the city

Kharkiv continues to clean up after the Russian night attack on October 21, which injured at least 11 people and caused significant damage to the city. This was reported by Kharkiv City Council member Artem Revchuk.

According to him, Russian troops attacked the city with guided bombs, damaging 15 residential buildings. Thanks to the prompt work of the city authorities and volunteers helping to clean up the aftermath of the shelling, the first thing to do was to close the broken windows in the damaged buildings.

Revchuk reported that the strikes fell on two districts of the city – Industrialny and Nemyshlyansky. In addition to residential buildings, damage was also caused to enterprises, on whose territory large fires broke out.

“The Russians are constantly striking enterprises, because these are taxes, first of all, to the city budget. They are trying to destroy revenues and leave people unemployed,” Revchuk explained.

He emphasized that the Russian attacks have not only an economic but also a psychological purpose — to sow panic and force businesses to leave Kharkiv. Despite regular shelling, Kharkiv enterprises continue to resume work and pay taxes.

“Enterprises are still adapting to these realities, resume work and continue to provide people with jobs. This allows the city to exist and develop as much as possible in such difficult conditions,” the deputy added.

The deputy noted that there is no housing shortage in the city, since the population of Kharkiv has decreased to 1.3 million, and student dormitories are used to accommodate internally displaced persons. Even after the last attack, the city authorities promptly offered temporary housing to the victims.

“Some people were left homeless, but they were immediately offered places to live. Some refused,” Artem Revchuk concluded.

On the night of October 21, Russia launched an attack with guided aerial bombs on Kharkiv – as a result of the enemy strike, at least 15 private houses in the Industrial District were damaged and there were casualties.
