The head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, Oleg Synegubov, reported that the region is threatened with flooding after the Russian attack on the dam.
He noted that they are currently making every effort to stabilize the situation after the Russian shelling of one of the region’s dams, but there are risks of flooding, so the population may be evacuated.
“We have had response plans ready since 2022. If the situation worsens, about 13 thousand people may be displaced, 3.5 thousand of them are people with limited mobility,” Synegubov said.
According to him, all available resources will allow for a timely and organized evacuation. If necessary, transport and places for temporary accommodation will be provided.
The official reported that evacuation measures from the Kupyansky and Izyumsky districts are continuing, where about 50 people are being evacuated per day. Currently, more than 1,200 people remain in the Kupyanska community, and about 800 in Borivska.
