Kherson region remains under heavy fire from the Russian Federation

On the right bank of the Kherson region, the police record the consequences of Russian attacks on the residential sector, medical and educational institutions

From the temporarily occupied left bank of the Dnieper, Russian troops continuously shelled the Kherson and Berislavsky districts, Kherson and the suburbs with all kinds of weapons. The civilian population was attacked by multiple rocket launchers, mortars, artillery, tanks, aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Russian troops carried out another air strike on Olhivka, targeting the building of a local school, leaving the school in ruins. A 54-year-old man died in Lviv as a result of enemy artillery shelling on the street. In Mykilsk, during artillery shelling, a projectile directly hit a private house, a fire broke out, a 63-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were injured. Mykhailivka and Khreshchenivka were under artillery shelling, residential buildings, outbuildings and garages were damaged by shells, and a 60-year-old resident of Khreshchenivka was wounded.

The residential quarters of Kherson were covered with fire almost every hour by the Russian army. In the coastal areas of the city, the center, Dnipro and Korabelny districts, shells damaged a medical facility, apartments in high-rise buildings, private houses, shops, power lines and road surfaces. Policemen, rescuers and emergency medical teams worked at the sites of shelling. Law enforcement officers documented every fact of Russian aggression against the civilian population.

On August 16, the police responded to 329 statements and reports from citizens about criminal offenses and other events. 21 criminal proceedings have been opened under Article 438 “Violation of the Laws and Customs of War” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On August 16, the Russians fired 422 shells in the Kherson region — one dead, seven wounded

On August 16, the Russian army carried out 78 shellings of the Kherson region.

Oleksandr Prokudin, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, announced this.

“On August 16, the Russians carried out 78 attacks, firing 422 shells from mortars, artillery, tanks, Grads, UAVs and aircraft. The enemy fired 23 shells at the city of Kherson,” Prokudin noted.

According to him, the Russian military targeted the residential quarters of populated areas, the premises of an educational institution and a medical institution in Kherson, a school in the Berislav district.

As the head of the regional military administration emphasized, due to Russian aggression, one person died, and seven more people were injured.

We will remind that in the temporarily occupied village of Kozachi Lageri, Kherson region, the Russians are going to shoot a propaganda video about the alleged victory over the reconnaissance unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Rescuers in the Kherson region extinguished fires caused by shelling

On August 16, five fires broke out in the Kherson region, four of which were caused by shelling.

This was reported in the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kherson region.

The message states that the Russian army attacked the settlements of the Kherson district, as a result of which economic buildings and a garage burned down.

“Also, one hectare of ecosystems was destroyed by fire due to hostilities. Rescuers promptly arrived at the scene of the fire and extinguished the fire,” the agency’s press service informs.

It is also known that the Russian army continues to destroy residential buildings and infrastructure in the Kherson region.

On August 14, rescuers extinguished two fires in residential buildings. Also, due to Russian shelling, a fire broke out in the premises of one of the educational institutions in the urban-type village of Bilozerka. In all three cases, there was a threat of repeated shelling, but rescuers promptly extinguished the fires.
