On the night of March 20, 31 Russian air bombs fell on Kupyansk in a day, causing catastrophic destruction, said Serhiy Bolvinov, head of the Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv region.
The strikes began at night, at about 3 a.m., when the Russians dropped four guided air bombs. The second, more powerful attack took place in the morning after 9:00 a.m. — another 27 bombs turned the city center into ruins.
Residential buildings and administrative buildings came under fire.
Two civilians were killed — an 84-year-old woman who was found under the rubble of her house, and a 51-year-old man. Four more people were injured. The Russians also used artillery and drones.
An electrical substation in the city was destroyed, and there is no water or electricity. Police and rescuers continue to clear the rubble, search for survivors, and evacuate people.
Local residents are urged to urgently leave Kupyansk — shelling continues, the threat to life remains high.
