Kyiv City State Administration reveals how many educational institutions in Kyiv were damaged by Russian shelling

In Kyiv, 195 educational institutions have been damaged since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Of these, 26 were damaged during the Russian shelling on June 17 alone.

This was stated by the Deputy Head of Kyiv City State Administration Valentyn Mondryivskyi, reports the publication “Evening Kyiv”. The restoration of these facilities continues continuously.

“Unfortunately, during constant Russian attacks, especially at night, educational institutions are also damaged. During the shelling on June 17 alone, 26 educational institutions were damaged: 9 kindergartens, 15 schools and 2 special education institutions, including vocational schools. And another 7 institutions were damaged as a result of the shelling on June 23 – these are also kindergartens and schools,” Mondryivskyi said.

The official added that in total, from February 24, 2022 to June 23, 2025, 195 educational institutions were damaged in Kyiv. These are 75 kindergartens, one of which is private, 93 schools – 4 of them private.

In addition, 10 specialized institutions, such as vocational schools or colleges, two out-of-school institutions, one inter-school educational and production complex, nine vocational education institutions, including four colleges, were damaged.

“195 facilities are a lot, a lot. But thanks to the professionalism of specialists, the coordinated work of deputies and the constant instruction of the mayor to keep the city in a viable mode – we are coping. More than 80% of the damaged institutions have already been restored. And this process continues continuously,” Mondryivskyi emphasized.
