The capital of Ukraine continues to have a difficult electricity supply situation on January 13. Due to a significant power shortage in the power system, DTEK Kyiv Electric Networks is applying stabilization and emergency measures.
The city authorities are preparing for the worst-case scenarios. The Kyivpastrans municipal enterprise warned that if the electricity shortage increases, the operation of all electric transport in the capital (trams and trolleybuses) may be completely suspended.
To support the life of the city, powerful generators are being deployed in the most problematic areas. They should ensure the operation of critical facilities and, in part, the residential sector.
The energy crisis directly affects the heat supply. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, due to the lack of power to the pumping equipment, about 500 residential buildings are currently without heat.
