Massive Russian strikes on Kyiv region: hangars, cars and educational institution destroyed in Fastiv district

On the night and morning of September 16, Kyiv region again suffered a massive attack by suicide drones. According to the head of the Kyiv regional military administration, Mykola Kalashnyk, the strikes were carried out in at least three waves and led to significant destruction in several settlements, in particular in the Fastiv district.

Civilian objects suffered the most. It is known that damage was caused to: four private houses; a school building, where the blast wave broke the glass; hangars and warehouses; the administrative building of the logistics center.

Vehicles were also hit – 27 cars and 8 semi-trailers were damaged, including official cars of the State Emergency Service.

More than 400 rescuers, about 120 pieces of equipment and two fire helicopters were involved in the elimination of the consequences. While extinguishing large-scale fires, the enemy struck again, but thanks to the coordinated actions of the air defense forces and the State Emergency Service, it was possible to avoid casualties among civilians and rescuers.

Two power lines were damaged as a result of the strikes. About 500 subscribers were temporarily left without electricity, but emergency crews quickly restored power supply.

On the morning of September 16, a fire broke out in the warehouses of the Epicenter logistics center in the Hlevakhiv community. As a result, hazardous substances were released into the atmosphere. The local community was urged to close windows and limit being outside unless absolutely necessary.

Despite the large-scale destruction, there were no casualties among the civilian population. All services continue to work on site, and local authorities, together with partners, are preparing mechanisms to support affected families whose homes were damaged or destroyed.
