Zaporizhzhia has completed the elimination of the consequences of the morning attack by the Russians on August 18.
At about 9 a.m., two powerful explosions were heard in Zaporizhzhia. Monitoring groups reported an attack by Iskanders, and later this information was confirmed by the military.
The strikes hit a residential area in the Dniprovskyi district of Zaporizhzhia. According to local authorities, three people died as a result of the shelling. One of them is a man who was pulled out of a ravine at an enterprise by rescuers. Doctors fought for his life for a long time, but were unable to save him.
As of 6 p.m., 30 city residents were injured, including a 17-year-old boy, the main department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia region reported. However, people continue to seek medical attention.
Some of the injured are still in serious condition, doctors are providing them with the necessary assistance, some have already undergone operations.
Currently, 19 people are in hospitals.
Psychologists of the State Emergency Service provided assistance to 27 citizens, including 2 children.
The main department of the State Emergency Service involved 56 rescuers and 13 units of equipment.
The attack caused serious damage to the infrastructure: eight high-rise buildings were damaged, windows were broken, retail premises and a bus stop complex were destroyed.
In total, almost 40 specialists and about 150 units of equipment from various services were involved in the work at the sites of the hits.
Eyewitnesses say: it was a terrible morning. At the time of the first “arrival”, the alarm had not yet been announced – the sirens were turned on after the explosion. So people did not expect danger – they crowded into stores and waited for transport at the bus stop.
Among the victims are people with disabilities, large families, displaced persons and recipients of housing benefits. The city has a support program for them.
The assistance covers both housing restoration – from closing broken windows and repairing roofs – and targeted payments.
Separately, material assistance is provided to the families of the deceased – for organizing a funeral. 11 apartment buildings were damaged as a result of the attack. 10 private houses were also damaged, including 3 with damaged roofs. Social infrastructure facilities are also damaged: two schools, a kindergarten, shopping pavilions and a bus stop.
