Citizens of Moldova who wish to enter Russia have begun to face increased checks and forced to sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense. In addition, they may face many hours of interrogation at the airport.
According to the Moldovan Foreign Ministry, those detained at the border are primarily men aged 18 to 60, people with recently issued passports, and those who have visited Ukraine, are traveling independently, or have Russian citizenship.
The Foreign Ministry warned that those entering may be interrogated for 3 to 12 hours and forced to undergo a polygraph. They are also required to provide access to gadgets and sign a consent to the processing of personal data.
Border guards ask questions about trips to Ukraine, professional activities, relatives, and attitudes towards the war. Documents are confiscated during the inspection.
Refusal to comply with the requirements of the Russian authorities may result in a ban on entry or administrative liability, including arrest, the department noted.
The detainees are being pressured to sign a contract to serve in the Russian Armed Forces. In this regard, the Moldovan Foreign Ministry recommended that compatriots carefully assess the need for trips to Russia.
