on September 13, the Russian military launched another air attack on the territory of Ukraine. The command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the capture of several groups of “Shakhed” type attack drones, which the Russians launched in the Odesa region, in particular in the direction of the southern regions of this region.
The Odesa Regional Military Administration announced the operation of air defense systems against Russian targets in the Izmail district of the region.
The air alert in the region was canceled only around five o’clock in the morning.
As a result of the impact on the port infrastructure, non-residential buildings were also mutilated, and a truck parking lot caught fire. The fire was promptly extinguished. 7 civilian drivers who were in the parking lot were also injured. They were taken to the hospital with injuries of varying severity.
It is known that the Russians released a total of 44 Shaheds. The main direction is the southern regions of Odesa, the port infrastructure of the region. The Russians launched attack drones from three directions: Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Cape Chauda, Kursk.
During the previous attack by the Shaheds on the port infrastructure in the Izmail district, kamikaze drones fell on the territory of Romania, which is a NATO country. The State Border Service of Ukraine reported that it happened near the Izmail port.
At the same time, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis denied the fall of Russian drones on the territory of his country on September 4. He stated that not a single detail was found from the drone of the aggressor country. The Romanian leader also emphasized that the state fully controls its airspace and has “extremely strong security guarantees.” In addition, Iohannis noted that NATO countries have decided on an algorithm of actions in case “something falls on their territory.”
Later, after the wreckage was discovered, the President of Romania made a new statement, noting that if this fact is confirmed, it will be a “serious violation”. In addition, Iohannis once again called the attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure in the Danube region a war crime.
Administrative buildings, grain and oil storage infrastructure were damaged as a result of the night attack
As a result of Russia’s night attack on the ports of Reni and Izmail (Odesa Region) on September 13, administrative buildings, warehouses for grain cargoes, oil storage containers and motor vehicles were damaged; seven drivers were taken to the hospital in serious condition, Minister of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov said.
“Despite Russia’s attempts to reduce export potential, the ports are working. At the same time, every attack on the port infrastructure of Ukraine is an attack on the food security of the whole world,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
According to Kubrakov, since July 18, as a result of Russian attacks on Ukrainian ports, 105 port infrastructure facilities have been damaged and partially destroyed. As a result of the attacks on the ports of the Danube cluster and the blockade of sea ports, the export of grain cargoes to the countries of Asia, Africa and Europe was reduced by almost 3 million tons per month.
“The ports of the Danube cluster are the only waterway for Ukrainian agricultural exports. If it is not protected by powerful air defense systems, the consequences will be even greater. First of all, for those countries that depend on Ukrainian agricultural products,” the minister summarized.
