Night attack on Sumy: explosions, power outages and fire – the city is recovering from a drone strike

On the night of September 16, Sumy became the target of another attack by Russian drones. At around 02:30, residents heard powerful explosions that echoed in different areas of the city. According to the Sumy regional military administration, two hits were recorded – both outside the residential sector.

One of the drones hit a warehouse, where a fire broke out. Another hit caused a power outage in part of the Zarechny district and one of the water intakes. Power engineers and emergency services are working quickly to restore critical infrastructure. There are no civilian casualties.

The situation in Sumy is under control, but the authorities are urging residents not to ignore air raid sirens and to follow safety rules.

According to the head of the Sumy city military administration, Serhiy Kryvosheyenko, all services are working in an intensified mode to restore electricity and water supply as soon as possible.
