Night ballistic attack on Kyiv: one dead, injured and large-scale fires in five districts

As a result of the Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of July 19, one person was killed and 17 others were injured.

This was reported by the Kyiv City Military Administration, Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Initially, the Kyiv City Military Administration reported one dead and five injured. Later, Chairman Vitaliy Klitschko clarified that the number of injured had increased to seven: six people were hospitalized, one was treated on the spot.

According to the capital’s authorities, a fire broke out in a three-story office building in the Solomyanskyi district. A non-residential building and a five-story residential building also caught fire. Rescuers evacuated people from windows using a ladder truck, saving at least four residents.

According to the State Emergency Service, as a result of the night attack, hits and fires were recorded in five districts of the capital. Rescuers continue to eliminate the consequences of the Russian strike.

Metro workers are already eliminating the consequences to ensure the operation of escalators and passenger automation. The resumption of the metro operation in normal mode will be reported additionally.

At 8:35, rescuers reported that the number of victims had increased to 17 people.

Work continues in the Shevchenkivskyi district, where firefighters localized fires in non-residential buildings and in open areas, as well as in the Solomyanskyi district at the site of damage to a 5-story residential building.

In Desnyanskyi district and at one address in Solomyanskyi – fires have been eliminated.
