Not subject to restoration: how many medical facilities were destroyed during the war

The Government of Ukraine continues the reconstruction of medical facilities, including hospitals, dispensaries, maternity homes and polyclinics. For more than two years of the war in Ukraine, 885 medical facilities that were damaged by military operations were restored. This is reported by the Department of Communications of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine

As of now, 532 health care facilities have been fully restored, and 353 have been partially repaired. Most of the medical infrastructure facilities were rebuilt in the Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions.

In general, since the beginning of the full-scale war, 1,885 medical facilities throughout Ukraine have been damaged or destroyed. Of them, 1,663 objects were damaged, and 222 were completely destroyed and cannot be restored. Thus, the “Okhmatdyt” children’s hospital, which was hit by a rocket attack in July, announced a tender for emergency works worth UAH 9.51 million and technical supervision for them for UAH 132,000. These urgent measures include the restoration of windows and doors, as well as utility networks, damaged by the shelling that occurred on July 8.

Ukrainian special services and the Prosecutor General’s Office have identified the Russian lieutenant general who commanded the missile attack on the National Children’s Hospital “Okhmatdyt” in Kyiv.
