The head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration assessed the extent of destruction in the region over the past year

18,000 destroyed objects in just one region.

The infrastructure of Kharkiv and the region was badly damaged by the full-scale invasion of the Russians. Almost 20,000 buildings were completely destroyed or damaged in the region. Oleg Sinegubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, told about this.

“Currently, we are counting more than 18,000 completely destroyed or damaged objects in Kharkiv and the region. About eight thousand of them are the housing stock: about 4,200 are multi-apartment buildings and 3,800 are private housing stock,” Synegubov said.

The head of the regional military administration also told how the energy infrastructure of the region is being restored after the shelling.

“We work here on two fronts, so to speak. The first front – during shelling, we must restore power supply to our critical infrastructure as quickly as possible: to the heating network, to sewage treatment plants and other objects. The second front is to stabilize the electricity supply for the population, I am not talking about urban electric transport, the subway, etc. Well, still, we must continue the restoration of electricity supply in the de-occupied territories, which is actually a priority task for us at the moment,” explains the head of the Kharkiv Region.

According to Oleg Synegubov, when shelling is heard, emergency shutdowns are used in the region. They do this even if the networks have not suffered damage, as a preventive measure.

“Because overvoltage can happen and what the enemy shelling did not do, the system can do with itself. As for stabilization shutdowns, here we are already focusing on the state of the national energy system, since in some places we do not have enough generation for our own needs,” concludes the head of the regional military administration.

Earlier, Synegubov revealed the new plans of the occupiers for the Kharkiv region.

According to Oleg Sinegubov, the Russian invaders are currently not carrying out large-scale attacks or offensive actions, but are checking the fighting capacity of the Ukrainian military and how the Armed Forces are standing in their positions.
