One person injured in Russian attack in Korosten district

On September 24, the Zhytomyr region was once again targeted by Russian forces. As a result of the attack—which began the previous day and continued into the morning—one person was injured, and significant damage to civilian infrastructure was recorded.

The Korosten district bore the brunt of the impact this time; one person was injured there. Across the region, Russian shelling caused damage to administrative buildings and severed power transmission lines. In addition to administrative buildings, social infrastructure was damaged in the attack. The blast wave and debris shattered windows at a local medical facility and a children’s institution, as well as in several residential buildings. Furthermore, the roof of an outbuilding was damaged.

Emergency response teams from the State Emergency Service worked continuously throughout the day to address the aftermath. Firefighters promptly extinguished all fires caused by the Russian strikes. Relevant agencies are currently gathering and verifying final information regarding the extent of the damage.

It is worth noting that Russian forces systematically target facilities in the region; law enforcement recently recorded another strike on a civilian enterprise near Zhytomyr, confirming Russia’s intent to destroy non-military infrastructure.
