About 80% of the city Severodonetsk in Luhansk region was destroyed by the Russians.
Russians are trying to create a picture of recovery and return to life in Severodonetsk. However, at least some work can be carried out only in a few surviving quarters. All other parts of the city were destroyed by the devastating shelling of the Russian troops.
According to Oleksandr Stryuk, the head of the Severodonetsk military-civilian administration, 80% of the city has been destroyed, and 60% cannot be restored. This is a house that burned down and collapsed. High-rise buildings continue to fall even now – entire entrances are destroyed due to weather conditions.
Even the minimal works carried out by the Russians in the houses that stood, ended in robberies and looting. The occupying authorities put up lists of apartments from which the owners have left – they are broken into and all property is taken away under the pretext of replacing radiators.
Civilians who are considered “unsavory” are selectively searched and their phones are searched. Sometimes people disappear after such filtering. However, it would be difficult to transmit at least some information from the city to the residents of Severodon due to the lack of normal communication and the Internet. In order to call someone, residents have to go to neighboring towns in the direction of Luhansk.
But even leaving the city within the occupied territory is not so easy. For this, residents have to get special passes indicating the city to which they are going. It is impossible to leave Severodonetsk without the permission of the occupation administration.
In Severodonetsk, the Russians invent accusations against residents in order to appropriate their property.
