Orban may radically change the decision on a crucial decision for Ukraine: an ultimatum has been announced

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban may consider the possibility of unblocking a loan for Ukraine from the European Union in the amount of 90 billion euros.

The condition is to provide Budapest with a defense loan of 16 billion euros.

Journalists have read Orban’s letter to the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, in which the Hungarian Prime Minister hinted at his readiness to abandon the blocking of the Ukrainian loan after an official assessment of the damage from the damage to the Druzhba oil pipeline.

Diplomats note that Hungary’s position may be broader, and Budapest’s key task is to ensure its own defense financing within the framework of the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) program.

This program provides for the provision of loans to member states and partner states for joint defense purchases, and the total volume of the fund reaches 150 billion euros.

Hungary had previously blocked a loan for Ukraine, insisting on the resumption of oil supplies through Druzhba. Viktor Orban also appealed to the EU leadership with a proposal to create a special mission to assess the condition of the oil pipeline in Ukraine.

In addition, the Hungarian Prime Minister wrote an open letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyі, in which he called for the restoration of the pipeline and accused Kyiv of interfering in the elections.
