Organizations that Russia uses to spread its narratives in Slovakia

One of the difficult challenges to European security remains Russia’s attempt to disrupt the unity of the countries of Europe and the North Atlantic Alliance regarding an adequate response to Russia’s aggressive policy in Europe.

In order to spread its narratives, Russia uses public organizations in many European countries, especially in those countries where, until recently, significant influence of Russia on internal processes was observed. One of these countries is Slovakia.

The leading role in Slovakia is played by the Russian Center of Science and Culture (RCSC) in Bratislava, which functions as a representative office of the Federal Agency “Rossotrudnichestvo” in the country.

The RCNC in Bratislava actively cooperates with another pro-Russian organization, the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture, on the funds of which, since March 2016, the Russian Center of the “Russian Peace” Foundation has been operating in Bratislava (the founder of the “Russian World” Foundation is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education of Russia).

The activities of the Russian Center and the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture are aimed at promoting the idea of Pan-Slavism and Slavic unity and openly use the narratives of Russian propaganda.

Propaganda actions are held in the premises of these organizations, including with the support of the Russian Embassy, dedicated to the biased coverage of the events of the Second World War.

In order to divert attention from their organization and demonstrate support for the war of aggression against Ukraine on the part of the population of Ukraine, even in 2021, Russia created the Fund of Ukrainian Literature and Culture “Mova Kalinova” in Bratislava, which with a high degree of probability can be used, including by the Russian special services to perform their tasks.

There is no official website of the Foundation.

The fund is located in the office center – Business centrum AIRCRAFT, Ivanska cesta 30/B, 82104 Bratislava.

The most interesting thing in this story is that the address of the newly created Fund of Ukrainian Literature and Culture “Language of Kalinova” coincides with the address of the European Foundation of Slavic Literature and Culture (head – Ihor Ivanovich Bondarenko) and is located in the premises of the business center, the owner of which is I.I. Bondarenko
