Over 2,000 objects of cultural infrastructure were damaged or destroyed due to the aggression of the Russian Federation

More than 2,000 objects of cultural infrastructure and at least 1,086 objects of cultural heritage were damaged or destroyed as a result of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

In Ukraine, at least 1,086 monuments of cultural heritage were damaged or completely destroyed as a result of Russian aggression. In addition, more than 2,000 objects of cultural infrastructure were also damaged or destroyed. Lina Doroshenko, a representative of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, said: “Russia is deliberately destroying our cultural heritage, our culture. If we are talking about the data of the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, then as of today, we are not talking about dozens of monuments. As of today, we are talking about at least 1,086 monuments of cultural heritage that were damaged or completely destroyed as a result of aggression. In addition, more than 2,000 objects of cultural infrastructure, we are talking about museums, club events were also damaged or destroyed, that is, they suffered losses. That is, the damage is already measured in thousands of objects,” said Doroshenko.

She also informed that UNESCO has included 25 objects of cultural heritage of Ukraine under enhanced protection.

In 2023, with the help of international partners, it was possible to place 25 objects under enhanced protection.
