Over two months of fighting for life: police colonel dies in hospital as a result of shelling of Kharkiv

Police colonel Ihor Ivanchyshyn died as a result of Russian missile shelling of Kharkiv, having been seriously wounded.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

“For more than two months, doctors fought for the life of a policeman, but today his heart stopped… The police colonel will forever be 47 years old. Forever in the ranks…”, the message says.

The Main Directorate of the Targeted Police in the Kharkiv Region recalled that on November 1, 36 police officers were injured in a missile strike on Kharkiv. Police Colonel Andriy Matvienko died on the spot, and another police officer, Oleksandr Kovtun, died in hospital from serious injuries.

Among the injured was the head of the Personnel Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kharkiv Region, Ihor Ivanchyshyn, who was hospitalized with multiple injuries. He is survived by his wife and 24-year-old son.
