Ukrainian police are investigating more than 500 cases of deportation of children from the occupied territories of the Kharkiv region. The exact number of children who were forcibly removed by the Russians is currently unknown as the investigation is ongoing.
According to Serhiy Bolvinov, head of the Kharkiv Region Police Investigation Department, some of the deported children have returned to the territory controlled by Ukraine, and some are still in the temporarily occupied territories.
Bolvinov also said that he personally visited the International Criminal Court in The Hague to exchange information with the court’s representatives regarding the investigation of crimes against children committed by Russians.
“We understand what system they work on, what evidence and materials they need. I believe that this trip was good for establishing communication,” he noted.
