Power grids damaged in Zolochiv community in Kharkiv region as a result of massive strike

As a result of the Russian Federation’s massive strike on the Zolochiv community in Kharkiv region on the evening of December 17, power grids were destroyed and houses damaged, and the elimination of the consequences is ongoing.

This was stated by the head of the Zolochiv community Viktor Kovalenko: “This is probably the first time since 2022 that such massive strikes have occurred. The Russians struck with ten guided aerial bombs, four “Shaheds”, and then they added with the “Tornado” MLRS. As a result, two two-story apartment buildings were damaged, one private house was destroyed, about 20 were damaged, as well as outbuildings, gas, electrical networks, and cars.”

According to him, the wounded elderly man had eye and chest injuries. “He was taken to the hospital, provided with assistance. His condition is stable,” the head of the community noted.

He added that utility workers and energy workers have been eliminating the consequences of the strikes all day.

“There is no light, no communication, we are resolving these issues. The services are working. There is damage to both high-voltage lines and house networks, there is a lot of work,” said Kovalenko.

In general, about eight thousand residents of Zolochiv and another 12 thousand residents in the starostyn districts were without light. Electricity is now being gradually restored.

Volunteers from charitable foundations are helping to close the contours of houses and carry out priority work.

The Zolochiv community of the Bogodukhov district has a 51 km border with the Russian Federation, and it is constantly being shelled. Several settlements were under occupation until early September 2022.

As reported, on the evening of December 17, a warehouse was destroyed in the Zolochiv community of the Kharkiv region as a result of a Shahed strike.

Strikes by guided bombs, UAVs, and MLRS were recorded near the villages of Berezivka, Chornoglazivka, Snihy, and the settlement of Zolochiv. A 76-year-old man was injured.
