Prosecutor General’s Office: 30% of the exhumed bodies of those who died at the hands of the enemy have traces of torture

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that 30% of the exhumed bodies of those killed during Russia’s invasion of Ukraine had traces of violent death associated with the use of possible torture and ill-treatment.

Yuriy Bilousov, head of the department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine, said this in an interview.

“Currently, a significant number of examinations of the deceased, those burials that were discovered in Kharkiv, are being conducted. But there are, for example, obvious signs of torture when, when exhuming a body, you find that the body, for example, has its hands tied behind its back, or we see traces of injuries that are characteristic of torture. I can roughly say that maybe 30% of the dead and those bodies we exhumed had traces of a violent death associated with the use of possible torture and ill-treatment. That’s quite a lot…

I am talking about the total number of bodies exhumed by us, civilian bodies, in Kyiv region, Kharkiv region, Luhansk region, Kherson region. About 30% on average, so to speak, have traces of abuse,” he said. Bilousov did not specify how many bodies were exhumed, but noted that it is about thousands of people, the data is updated daily. “In general, we have officially confirmed more than eight thousand dead civilians. We understand that in reality they are much more, but these are the ones where we have access to the body: 8180 people, 430 of them are children. Roughly speaking, very roughly speaking, a third: from two to two and a half thousand of them had signs of ill-treatment,” he noted.

The occupiers are taking away looted property and stolen cars from Severodonetsk – Lugova

The occupiers are taking away looted property from cities in the Luhansk region.

This was announced by the Luhansk Regional Military Administration.

Russian attacks were repulsed from Makiivka and Novoselivskyi, the occupiers are taking away looted property from Severodonetsk, doctors in Novopskov have been ordered to look for unsuspecting patients, part of Kreminnaya has been without gas since March. Such are the realities of the occupation, according to the Luhansk Regional Military Administration.

The occupiers are taking away looted property and stolen cars from Severodonetsk – they are taking what is left. Looting takes place under the cover of representatives of the so-called state security agencies. In the city, there are tens of thousands of apartments without owners who evacuated, which are used by the occupiers, the Luhansk Regional Military Administration explained.

“The situation in Kreminnaya is difficult. There is gas in half of the city – where the distribution system remained intact. In those areas where the Russians destroyed it back in the spring, no one has restored the supply of blue fuel – more than six months have passed. Medicines can be purchased at only one pharmacy that remains open. In grocery stores, as before, there are significant problems with the assortment of goods,” the Luhansk Regional Military Administration states.
