Returning from hemodialysis: near Balaklia, a Russian drone hit a medical car and killed a patient

A sixty-three-year-old resident of the village of Borshchivka died as a result of a Russian drone hitting a car of the Balaklia Primary Medical and Sanitary Assistance Center on February 11. The doctors were transporting patients from the hemodialysis procedure.

According to the director of the Balaklia Primary Medical and Sanitary Care Center, Maria Hlyznutsa, there were five people in the car. The car was returning from Kharkiv, where patients are delivered for hemodialysis three times a week.

Our driver was returning with patients from Kharkiv who are on hemodialysis. These are patients who need regular connection to the device. We transport such patients three times a week to prolong their lives,” said Hlyznutsa.

According to her, on the way, the car stopped to transfer the patient and his wife for the further journey to their settlement.

Our driver, another patient, and the patient and his wife got out of the car. One woman remained in the car — a resident of the village of Borshchivka. At that moment, “Lancet” hit our car. Unfortunately, the woman could not be saved – there was a direct hit, which caused the car to instantly catch fire,” said the director of the primary care center.

Gliznutsa emphasized that the car was marked as medical.

I think that “Lancet” was purposefully hunting for the car. We do not see any other explanations, although the car was clearly marked as medical,” she noted.

The car burned down completely. The driver was concussed, he is in the hospital and undergoing examination.

As reported by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, “Lancet” hit the car of the medics on February 11 at approximately 1:30 p.m. near the village of Borshchivka, Balakliysky community.
