The number of victims as a result of the Russian missile attack on Sumy has increased to 18, including six children, the regional prosecutor’s office reported on the morning of September 2.
On the evening of September 1, the Russian military launched a missile attack on the center for social and psychological rehabilitation of children and an orphanage in Sumy. The building is located in the middle of a residential neighborhood of the city. There were no children in the institution at that time.
“However, eighteen residents of the surrounding houses were injured, including three boys aged 7, 9 and 13, three girls aged 7, 15 and 17, nine women and three men,” the prosecutor’s office said.
Six high-rise buildings were also damaged.
The Russian military regularly attacks Ukrainian regions, in particular Sumy region, with various types of weapons – attack UAVs, missiles, guided aerial bombs, and anti-aircraft missiles. Despite the evidence and testimony, Moscow has denied targeted attacks on civilians since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
