On May 17, Russian troops attacked Odesa region with missiles. One person died as a result of the Russian shelling.
This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to preliminary information, one person died, eight more were injured.
As of 8:50 p.m., work to eliminate the consequences of the enemy attack continues.
Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odesa regional military administration, previously reported that the civilian infrastructure in the Odesa district was damaged.
“There is a strong fire in the Odesa region where one of the missiles hit. Civilian infrastructure has been damaged,” he wrote.
On the night of May 17, Russian troops launched Shahed drones over Ukraine. Anti-aircraft defense worked 100% against Russian targets.
In the Odesa region, a fire broke out on an area of 8,000 m² at the place where one of the rockets hit a warehouse. 16 units of fire equipment and 58 rescuers were involved from the State Emergency Service to extinguish the fire.
According to the Defense Forces of Southern Ukraine, during the day of May 17, 2024, Russian troops attacked Odesa with three ballistic missiles (presumably “Iskander-M”) and three Kh-59/Kh-69 guided air missiles.
In total, 3 Kh-59 guided air missiles were destroyed by anti-aircraft defense.
