On the night of September 8, Russian troops launched a massive attack on the Ukrainian energy system. One of the thermal generation facilities in the Kyiv region was hit.
This was reported by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine.
“The goal is obvious – to cause even more difficulties for the civilian population of Ukraine, to leave Ukrainian homes, hospitals, kindergartens and schools without electricity and heat. Generation facilities, electricity transmission and distribution systems, gas infrastructure are not military targets. Russia clearly understands that it is hitting critical civilian infrastructure,” the ministry said in a statement.
Rescuers and energy workers are currently working to eliminate the consequences of the shelling.
The Trypilska CHP was under massive attack by drones. There are also reports of power outages in nearby settlements and in some areas of Kyiv.
