On the night of June 10, Russian troops attacked the territory of the Odessa Zoo with drones.
This was reported by the zoo director Igor Bilyakov: “It’s very good that it is in the technical zone, and not in the animal keeping zone. We collect branches there, from which we make sawdust for animals. And then it flew there, quite seriously damaged the haystack building, fortunately, it was empty and did not catch fire.”
According to Bilyakov, although the epicenter of the explosion was remote from the place where the animals were kept, one of them – a domestic ram – died, probably as a result of the blast wave.
“The rest of our animals were not injured, people were not injured. We immediately began to check the animals. The zebras were scared, it was clear that they were scared, because that’s how they are, in general, animals are very nervous, they were scared by the explosion, but they calmed down pretty quickly,” the zoo director added.
