
On the night of August 17, the Russian Federation attacked the port infrastructure of the Odesa region. In the Izmail district, a civilian ship flying the flag of Togo was damaged as a result of the strike. Three crew members were injured, as well as an employee of the Sea Ports Administration of Ukraine – a 43-year-old resident of the village of Bagate, Izmail district. The man received a fragment of the head. He was hospitalized with brain damage in the intensive care unit of the Izmail city hospital.
The attack caused fires, which are now completely extinguished.
Izmail is located near the border with Romania. The city is home to the largest Ukrainian port on the Danube, which is an important part of the country’s trade and transport network.
