On August 28, the Russians once again attacked Kupyansk, Kharkiv region, from aviation. The airstrike fell on the center of the city, where many people were.
Oleg Synegubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, spoke about the consequences of the attack.
He reported that the Russians hit the crowded city center with a guided aerial bomb. As a result of the attack, the premises of the city administration were damaged, and the number of victims continues to grow. As of the evening, 12 people are known to have been injured.
In addition, about 1,000 windows were damaged in the houses of the city’s residents, and about a hundred more – in the courthouse.
According to the prosecutor’s office, two police officers were also injured. It has been preliminarily established that the Russians used a FAB-500 bomb with a planning and correction module for the strike.
“A hotel, residential buildings, farm buildings, cars, shops, administrative buildings and other objects of civil infrastructure were damaged,” the prosecutor’s office notes.
Based on this fact, a pre-trial investigation “Violation of the Laws and Customs of War” was launched.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, also commented on the attack on Kupyansk in a video message, noting that as a result of the shelling, civilians were injured and found themselves under the rubble.
