Russia Attacks Konotop with Shaheds and Ballistic Missiles

On the night of May 5, Russian troops struck Konotop in the Sumy region, using more than ten Shahed suicide drones and two ballistic missiles. This was reported by the city’s mayor, Artem Semenikhin.

According to preliminary information, there were no deaths or injuries. However, an infrastructure facility in the city was destroyed as a result of the attack.

“The attack was combined with the use of more than a dozen Shaheds and two ballistic missiles. Muscovites deliberately struck at intervals to cause more damage, to kill rescuers and medics,” Semenikhin wrote.

Emergency response services quickly eliminated the consequences of the night shelling. There are also reports of another shelling of border settlements in the Sumy region:

Bilopil community – firefighters extinguished a fire in a non-residential building.

Vorozhbyanska community — several fire centers on the territory of one of the enterprises were eliminated.

Fortunately, there were no casualties!” — rescuers note.

It should be noted that the Double Tap Strikes used by Russian troops are a gross violation of international humanitarian law. Such tactics deliberately hit rescuers, medics and civilians after the first attack. This is a war crime that contradicts the 1949 Geneva Conventions, which prohibit attacks on civilians, the wounded and persons not taking part in hostilities.
